Modifying the Whois / Contact Details of all Domain Names (except .EU and .UK)

We offer you a comprehensive set of features to allow you to manage your domain name Contact details easily. All domain names (except .EU and .UK) have four Contacts associated with them. The Registrant (which is the owner of the domain name), the Administrative Contact, the Technical Contact and the Billing Contact.

In our system, Contacts are separate from a domain name. We maintain ALL Contact information that you have used for registering any domain name, separately in a Contact database. This allows you to re-use the Contact information for any other domain name registration without having to fill in all the values yourself.

All domain names have 4 associated Contacts with them. Think of this as linking Contacts from your Contact database to the domain names you Register. Whenever you change any Contact information in any Contact, it will automatically change that information in every domain name which uses that Contact information.

If you need to Modify your Contact Information for a domain name, simply follow the steps below -

  1. Login to your Control Panel, search for the domain name whose Contact details you wish to modify and proceed to the Order details view. Click here to find instructions for doing so >>

  2. Click on the Modify Contact Details button to proceed to the Contact Details view.

The Contact Details view for a domain name will display only the Registrant Contact, if the Administrative, Technical and Billing Contacts for the domain name are the same as the Registrant Contact. If any or all of these Contacts differ from the Registrant Contact, then all such Contacts will also be displayed.

  3. You now have two options of modifying the Contact Details for your domain name -

(i) Use your existing Contact Database: Click on the Use Another Contact link adjacent to the Contact you wish to modify. This will open a page listing all the Contacts that this particular Customer has used in all Domain Registrations with us. Details of a particular Contact can be viewed by clicking on the View Details link corresponding to that Contact, which will open the Contact Details view.

Click on the Contact Id or Email Address link in order to select the Contact for your domain name. The Contact can also be selected by clicking on the Use This Contact button in the Contact Details view.

You can also add a new Contact by clicking on the Add New link in the Contacts list page and then submitting the Contact details. The new Contact will be automatically selected.

IMPORTANT

The Add Contact form supports accented characters in case of .EU Contact and .COOP Contact Contact Types, except for the Phone Number, Fax Number and Email Address fields.

(ii) Specify Contact Details: If you wish to modify the details of the existing Contact for the domain name, click on Edit Existing Contact link corresponding to that Contact. Modify the details and click on Submit button to save the changes.

If you change the Name or Company Name, you would be asked, whether you wish to change this particular Contact only or you want to apply this change to all the domain names under this Customer which are using this Contact information. If you choose to apply the modifications only to this particular Contact, a new Contact will be created using the submitted details and will be used for the domain name.

If you change any other details, then they would automatically be applied to all the domain names under this Customer which are using this Contact information.

IMPORTANT

The Modify Contact form supports accented characters in case of .EU Contact and .COOP Contact Contact Types, except for the Phone Number, Fax Number and Email Address fields.

If the Administrative, Technical and Billing Contacts for the domain name are the same as the Registrant Contact, the Contact chosen as the new Registrant Contact will be used as the Administrative, Technical and Billing Contact for the domain name. If you wish to specify a different Contact for any or all of these (Administrative, Technical and Billing) Contacts, click on the click here to edit these now link. A different Contact may now be selected or details of the existing Contact modified, in the manner mentioned above.

Thus, for example, if you are using the following Contact Details for only a particular domain name and NOT anywhere else -

Registrant Contact Details
Company :* My Company
Name:* My Name
Email Address :* myself@mydomain.com
Address1 :* My Address
Address2 :
Address3 :
City :* My City
State :
Country :* United States of America
Zip :* 12343
Tel No. (Country Code - Phone Number) :*1 254146246

Fax no. :

Admin Contact Details
Company :* My Company
Name:* My Name
Email Address :* myself@mydomain.com
Address1 :* My Address
Address2 :
Address3 :
City :* My City
State :
Country :* United States of America
Zip :* 12343
Tel No. (Country Code - Phone Number) :*1 254146246

Now, if you change the Name or Company Name or both for a Contact, you would be asked whether you wish to apply the change to that particular Contact or to all the domain names using this Contact.

On the other hand, if you change any other details, then all the Registrant, Admin and Technical Contact would be changed automatically for all domain names under this Customer using this particular Contact.

Apart from the above process, Contacts can be created and managed independent of the domain name(s), directly from within the Customer Control Panel. Click here to read how >>

IMPORTANT
  • Modification of Registrant Contact of a Third level .ME domain name would be allowed, only if the Registrant remains a Montenegrin individual or entity.

  • While modifying the Contact details for a .US domain name, the system would collect additional Nexus information, if the same is not already associated with the new Registrant Contact. Click here to read about .US Nexus information >>

  • you may choose either the Registrant, Admin, Technical or Billing Contact as the CED Contact, or

  • if none of these Contacts meet the CED requirement, you can use the CED Contact provided by Dinsol.Co.In. In this case, the Technical Contact provided by you gets replaced by the CED Contact. 2. Click on Modify Contact Details button in the lower toolbar.

  3. From the CED Contact drop-down menu, select the Contact you wish to designate as the CED Contact.

  4. Click on Modify Contact Information.

If the newly selected Contact has never been used as a CED Contact before, you would be prompted to provide additional information, so as to declare that this Contact is a legal entity within the DotAsia Community.
