In WHM/cPanel current versions, we were able to choose between two mail servers: Courier and Dovecot. Courier was selected by default as it is been the first choice. However, beginning with WHM/cPanel latest release, Courier has been deprecated. (Read Official Announcement at http://goo.gl/zVqUef ) cPanel will no longer support Courier in future releases, therefore, we have scheduled to switch the pop3/imap mailserver from Courier to Dovecot. Please note this do not effect your use of email account or in the way you usually check your emails, as it is an background switch (server side) which will enable to get the latest releases and bug fixes in the cPanel/WHM. Below we have listed the advantages of Dovecot over Courier and also the only inconvenience that can cause after the switch:

* Highly configurable
* Excellent security track record
* BlackBerry Fastmail support
Please Note: Switching mail server may cause some mail software, specially old version of Outlook Express/Window Mail and MS Outlook without latest released versions/bug fixes provided by Microsoft, to redownload all stored mail messages for the account. This is primarily is seen with POP3 configured accounts and unfortunately cannot be avoided. The only solution to this issue is to use the latest released version of email software.
