WordPress earlier versions are affected by security issues and it is highly recommended that users upgrade to the latest released version without delay.

Last week, the WordPress project issued an update that had a flaw in it. It was caught almost immediately and within a few hours a patch was released. As WordPress states in their blog (https://goo.gl/KroNzS) , the 4.9.3 release of WordPress "will cause sites that support automatic background updates to fail to update automatically, and will require action from you (or your developer) for it to be updated to 4.9.4."

Why is the 4.9.4 release so important? Updating to 4.9.4 is important, because it allows your site to get automatic security updates without any intervention from you. If you do not take action and update your site to 4.9.4, when new security patches are released, your site will remain vulnerable. It is for that reason that we are writing you today, because we believe it is critical to take action.

Four ways to upgrade to 4.9.4:

1. Log into your WordPress Administration area and under Dashboard > Updates, click "Update now."
2. With cPanel Softaculous, you can easily upgrade by opting option as soon as you login to panel. Just select upgrade version option there.
3. If you have command line access on Cloud Server, you can use WP-CLI and run wp core update and it will take care of everything for you.
4. You can manually use sFTP to download the latest version from WordPress.org and use sFTP to upload it to your site. (Be sure not to overwrite your wpconfig file or your /wp-content folder.)

Once again, we would like to strongly recommend that if you have installed WordPress or similar Open Source Script in your hosting account, please do spare some quality time to upgrade that to the latest stable release. If you are not using your Installation of script and do not wish to use in future as well, please delete that immediately or block access to it is file. If your installation is not updated since last few weeks or months please do get that update with recent release along with installed theme, plug-ins and related modules.

Most important, please do keep regular backup of files and database at your local device. This will ensure that you have the copy available at all time.

Outdated CMS versions are at risk and considered security issues.
